Sidis posted this link on CWH, so I thought I'd share it with you guys http://www.apophysis.org/index.html Apophysis is a freeware fractal proggie. For people who don't know, fractals is maths, chaos theory to be exact. It means the same thing which repeats over and over again, smaller each time. Translated into image form, they make very pretty pictures. If you do a google image search of fractals, you'll get thousands of pretty fr

I don't know if most of the users on astahost are using mindmaps. But while searching for some task list programs i came across some of the variations of mindmaps software. For example, xmind is one mindmap software which is based on eclipse engine. This application looks and works same like any other eclipse application but it allows mindmaps to be developed and export, import inside it. It has both freeware and premium application. But here i''m going to let you know about freeware

Hello, I play a game called USI, which is a Play By Email. So evidently we also work together on an email, which we call a Joint Post (JP). Sometimes 3 people work on one post, which can be quite the hassle in MSN. Because you're limited to the amount of characters etc. Now some there (myself included) liked the idea of finding a webbased solution where you could log in (not necesarily) and work on one file with several people. Meaning that the change is seen immediately. Or after hitting

A Nice Bit Of Freeware For Musicians
I found a free ear training soft that is rather good, though sadly windows only. There are two versions, basic and advanced. They are both free, and advanced just takes over after you have mastered basic (which could take quite a while if you have terrible ears like I do). http://www.miles.be/ have fun!

Where To Get Free Itunes Codes?
*Note: this seemed like an appropriate place seeing as you download the iTunes program for free. Anyway: First, you can get a free iTunes code from Geico. Actually, you get three free songs. My question is: does anybody know where else I can get free iTunes codes? I also went and did the WellsFargo newsletter sign-up thing, but I can't find the URL for it anymore (sorry)! While I'm on the subject of iTunes ... I used to hate this program

I came across a post that concerned PHP Designer 2005 and decided to give it a try (I like free stuff) I used to use Arachnophilia for html then I used Code Edit then I found HTML Kit a truly great free program (but no debugging) then I tried PHP Designer 2005. This program not only will speed up the debug but it looks for you php.ini and php.exe and will run the file right from your browser or the internal one. I write and edit alot of php files and this program has sped up my output by at lea

For those in the like good things... Stone's WebWriter... anyone heard of it? Well, I'll tell you about it. Stone's WebWriter is an HTML editor PLUS from some Danish company. The program can be freeware (or for business purposes, there's a price), and you can register it as freeware. This is a great starter's tool. While it is ever so slightly outdated, this program is very good if you just want to learn what you need to build a webpage. It comes with predesigned HTML t

Nedwolf's Portable Freeware has a very good collection of software that one can carry around on one's USB Key or flash card etc. The main benefit of software such as this you don't have to go around installing it . Just plug in your external storage medium and run it off the disk. Browsing the site, I came across yet another site whith the same concept in mind - PortableFreeware.com[

Hey all, KMess is a KDE and QT based MSN Messenger for UNIX based OS such as Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris. It is fast, but it doesn't have much features as it's competitor, Mercury Messenger. Here's 1 screenshot from their website. http://kmess.sf.net xboxrulz

Ok, I want to present you Mercury Messenger. It's a great chat program wich supports MSN, Jabber and Gmail Talk! (or at least the service). It's made in Java and is very customisable (especialy since 1709B03a). There are a few downsides to it (like large memory demands and Sygate PF wich hangs when Mercury is running), but it's a good one, I think it's even better than MSN. It has almost everything MSN has, except than sending custom winks (is being worked on) and the sounds

Well I was watching Attack of the show on g4tech tv and they showed a great program called endorphin. Endorphin lets you animate a 3d ragdoll to do just about anything. You can slice him, dice him, and tackle him off a cliff having him twitch at the end. This program is all free all you have to do is sign up for their forum. The export on it though is .avi but just edit with your favorite movie editing software and your good to go. Now I bet your sick of my bable so here is the link to [url="

I'm looking for tools that work with the POV engine. I use POV for all kinds of stuff, and I can create some great 3D pictures. But sometimes I find it takes a long time to get a scene to look just right. I know there must be some good tools out there for POV, but I haven't found any. Am I just looking in all the wrong places, or what? I would love it if I could use something like wireframe to be able to edit the objects easier when I'm trying to place them, or maybe something t

I was going to title this "Freeware for Dummies" but decided not to for two reasons. One, I did not want anyone to be offended, and two, because I didn't want to break any copyrights. What is it? Dictionary.com Dictionary.com has four entries, none of which would be considered complete by most of the "freeware community". The most concise definition I have found is this one (from freewarearena.com)

Well, I was helping out at my neighbor's garage sale today, and we got into a conversation about Linux. Well, I explanined that there are paid distros like Red Hat and SuSE, and a bunch of free ones. Then, she said to watch out when ti comes to free software, because her computer took some major damage after she donwloaded some that was loaded with viruses and/or spyware. Let's face it: in the opinions those who aren't really the most computer-savvy, free software is al

My Life Organized - Task Management Software
Earlier in some of the other threads i mentioned about the to-do list and tasks management lists. I was trying to find some good task management softwares. Though there is no perfect one for my needs as of now. I'm just hopping from one task managment app to another. It really is hard to find such for your needs. You can't have all the features in one app. Atleast that is what i have noticed so far. In between i was looking for some serious apps in task management. I found "my life

Pixia (english Edition) - Image Editing Freeware
Hi all, It has not been long since I used Pixia, but now I am quite used to it. It has a bit of odd interface, but once you get the hang of it, one can get amazing results. (See my webcomic post: Firman Tales). It is not as good as Paint Shop Pro, but one should not complain as it is free. Moreover there are many forums and tutorials around based on this software. Pixia Download Link:
